I would like to obtain strains from MOLA. To whom should I send the request?
Please submit your request online, under the tab called "ordering". Before we send your order, we must have received your signed Material Transfer Agreement (MTA). The ordering process is described step-by-step

Do I need to repeat my personal information for each new strain request?
Yes.

How many strains may I request in a single order?
You may request a maximum of 10 strains in a single order.

How long will it take to receive the strains ordered?
Information concerning the delivery terms and conditions is given on the strain catalogue pages. Some strains are cultivated after we have received your order, so the number of days until dispatch is variable. We send the strains by normal mail for domestic customers and by express mail for international customers.

How can I get the MTA form?
A PDF of our standard materials transfer agreement is available here.

Can MOLA strains be used for commercial purposes?
No. They can only be used for research purposes.

Can I distribute MOLA strains to other scientists?
No. The redistribution of strains acquired from MOLA is strictly prohibited.

When should I send the signed MTA form to you?
You should send the signed MTA as soon as possible. If we do not receive this form within 21 days after receiving your order, your order will be cancelled automatically. We will remind you by email if we have not received the signed MTA form within 14 days of your order.

Is a signed MTA form required with every request?
Yes, it is.

The strains that I received were not viable. What should I do?
Report the problem by e-mail to: curator.MOLA@obs-banyuls.fr. We will check our stocks and send a new culture to you.

Are details available of the culture conditions for the ordered strains?
Yes. You can obtain information concerning the culture conditions directly from the MOLA database. If this information is not sufficient, please direct any further questions to: curator.MOLA@obs-banyuls.fr

Miscellaneous

How should I cite the use of a MOLA strain in a research paper?
You should cite the scientific name and MOLA number. For example,
Erythrobacter sp. MOLA124.

We would appreciate a reprint of your paper in which the MOLA strain was cited.

Are gene sequences available? Where?
Yes, of course. Please refer to the information on the catalogue pages.

May I use photographs and figures of a strain depicted on the MOLA web pages in a research paper?
Modification of any image in the MOLA web pages is expressly forbidden.
Links to individual images in the MOLA catalogue are also forbidden.
Links to individual html pages in the MOLA catalogue are permitted, providing that prior permission has been sought and accorded.
